Police have arrested a man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a former high school basketball star in Norwalk.
Sheldon Frierson, 29 of Norwalk, was identified as a person of interest in the death of Michael Moody, 29, of Norwalk, who was found stabbed to death outside his Fairfield Avenue home on Thursday, Aug. 8, said Norwalk Police Lt. Terrence Blake.
Known as a talented basketball player, Moody played at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, where he was known for his "smooth," jump shot, was stabbed around 1 a.m. Thursday, Norwalk Police said.
Frierson was arrested at the scene of the crime and charged with a violation of a protective order charge, Blake said.
On Friday, Aug. 9, Norwalk detectives obtained an arrest warrant that charges Frierson with the murder of Moody, he said.
Detectives are working with the State Attorney’s Office to serve the warrant on Frierson, who remains in custody, at a future court date.
